FOOD, FUN, AND FLAMEWARE
Flameware is clay specially designed to be used on the stovetop, open flame, and in the oven. We will make various cookware forms including skillets, tajines, casseroles, and other traditional cookware from various cultures.
We will cover basic hand-building and throwing techniques on the first day, trimming, carving, and sgraffito techniques on the second day.
The class will include a 3-course flameware cooked meal (bring a side dish).
Pre-Registration is required.

Clay Skills To Be Learned: Basic to advanced throwing and hand-building techniques
Additional Information: A 12.5 lbs (half bag) of Laguna WC440 Flameware will be available for each participant.
Materials To Bring: All materials for the course are included, but, bring any favorite tools.

Guest Artist - Jesus Minguez
Raised in the Philippines, Jesus Minguez is now an Orlando-based professional painter and potter, and an expert wheel thrower. He has worked as a painter and freelance illustrator for more than 12 years and has worked with clay for nearly 20 years. Minguez received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Central Florida with a specialization in ceramics. He has taught students of different levels in the Central Florida community, providing private lessons and also as a high school teacher for Orange County Public Schools. Minguez is inspired by his early childhood memories of traditional folk art owned by his grandparents, and by the works of notable Japanese Shigaraki and Bizen potters.
