Coiled Vessels | DEC 27-28th | 9am -12pm
This workshop will consist of two, three-hour sessions. Participants will be guided, step by step, in creating their own coil-built vessel. This vessel, vase or pot will be crafted by stacking various coil types. If you've taken (but not necessary) Zoey’s previous “Coil Bowl” class, you will leave the mold behind and build your vessel free-form.
Layering the coils in certain patterns can determine the piece’s function and style. All participants will either construct a planter pot, jug or vase. Learning and mastering coil building can open up many free-forming possibilities.
Once constructed, your piece will be fired and glazed for you in a color of choice. Hand building basics, rolling coils from clay, and vessel characteristics will be discussed and explored.
All necessary materials will be met, however, bring any of your favored hand-building tools. As well as a drink.
Participants will pick up completed pieces at a later date. (Please allow a 3 week minimum.)
Pre-Registration is required.
