Surface Treatment, Water Etching
In this class you will learn to use a resist, latex and shellac to block some surface areas while the other areas will be washed/wiped away to reveal a relief surface. Participants must bring no less than 2 greenware pieces, completely dry, to the class. More may be preferred as these will be needed in order to try the technique. The pieces should be rather basic in shape with few to no fragile appendages or details. These already fragile greenware pieces will be handled extensively in the water etching process. The pieces should also be slightly thicker than usual. It will be the responsibility of the participant to independently glaze his/her pieces from the class.
