The Sacred and Fun Altar w/ Ginny | Thursdays February 16 & March 2 | 9:30am - 1:30pm
Join Ginny in hand building an altar. This altar can include items that can be moved or used to store sacred trinkets. Give it some thought and come to the class with a few ideas about what direction your personal altar might take. A preliminary sketch would be excellent to bring. The first class session will concentrate on construction and the 2nd week will be devoted to glazing.
This intermediate skilled class will cover slab construction, making and use of templates, making of additional small sculpted elements, joinery and composition. Exploration of possible moving parts is included, such as drawers, hinged lids, etc. Glazing of the bisqued project will concentrate primarily on the use of underglazes.

Materials To Bring: participants bring their own clay (any preference) as long as it's purchased from IRC, clay tools (basic tools will be provided). Notebooks are encouraged. For a head start, bring several fresh, pre-made slabs, no thinner than ⅜" thick. (thinner slabs will be challenging to work with)
