Beginning Wheel: Fundamentals of Throwing
Join Kate for a fun-filled 8 weeks learning the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. From the foundational acts of wedging and centering clay we will journey through various functional forms creating cylinders, mugs, bowls, and vases. Each class will begin with a demonstration and then move to individual attention. We will cover the art of trimming pots and pulling and attaching handles to mugs and bowls. The last class session is reserved for glazing our finished pieces. This class is intended for students who are new to the potters wheel, or have very limited experience. It can also be a great refresher for those who haven’t had their hands in clay since high school.
Pre-Registration is required.
